About Rock Justice
Since 2005 when upcoming talented musician Ivan Smirnov met
Producer/Writer Johnny Vieira of Johnny on The Spot Productions,
destiny truly struck. The collaboration was definitely a potent one
that created the super group ROCK JUSTICE!
Described as a cross between a young David Bowie with the grit of
Axl Rose of Guns and Roses, J.OT.S. Productions has assembled a
powerful band behind Ivan. It was the challenges brought on by the
hardships of growing up in Russia blended with the triumph of
succeeding in Los Angeles and finding his musical soul mate in
Johnny Vieira and J.O.T.S Production that has made ROCK JUSTICE a
special band with a special sound.
Born in Saint
Petersburg and raised in Vologda, a small city a few hundred miles
outside of Moscow, Ivan was heavily influenced by the
British-American rock scene. The Beatles and the great 70..s rock
bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Sweet, Queen, David Bowie,
etc. had an early impact and helped him define himself musically.
He joined a music
school at the age seven where he studied classical piano for five
years and a year later he started writing his own material in
English. Because of his musical uniqueness, he gained popularity on
a local level, winning regional competitions, participating in
National contests, playing clubs and solo gigs at his university,
receiving lots of media attention in the local press and getting
airplay on local radio.
It wasn't until his
teen years where he realized that he wanted to be a rock star and
headed off to pursue his career further.
In August 2003, after
12,000 miles of obstacles, he ended up in Los Angeles and his
musical journey began. He started writing and performing his own
music in the Los Angeles music scene with a vengeance. Ivan's songs
reflect some of his personal experiences and he finds his
inspiration from reality, life, real love, and real drama. He
believes there is nothing more captivating than a miracle you
actually believe in.
Some of his current
musical influences include Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Train,
The Killers, and Sheryl Crow to name a few.
Aside from working on
his craft, he enjoys writing Russian poetry, novels, and catching up
on old classic books.
You can also find him
playing soccer and tennis.
Ivan currently
resides in Los Angeles.
